Animal Law

Ted Corvey is a friend and advocate for animals. Ted was raised in an animal-loving household that had three dogs, six cats, and three horses. Ted has taken his passion and love of animals into his career as he continues to work on animal-related issues and advocate for animals and their owners. Ted started his career as an Assistant Solicitor with the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, where among other responsibilities, Ted served as the lead animal crimes prosecutor for Charleston County. In that role, Ted gained some notoriety for successfully prosecuting several high-profile animal abuse cases, including Caitlyn the Dog. Following the conclusion of the case, Ted and his wife Danielle ended up adopting Caitlyn.

Since entering private practice, Ted serves on the Board of Directors of the Charleston Animal Society. Ted has also represented and worked with several animal welfare and rescue groups in the area. Also, Ted has represented countless individuals and helped them address animal-related problems ranging from defense of ordinance and dangerous pet violations, ownership issues, and disputes to dog bite and animal attack cases. Most recently, Ted, with the Humane Society of the United States, filed a consumer fraud-related lawsuit against a local Petland store and the national corporation. You can read more about that suit here.

Ted is among the most respected animal rights and issue lawyers in the state. Ted serves on the Animal Law Committee for the South Carolina Bar Association. Ted also regularly is asked to speak and lecture related to animal law and related issues. Should you have any animal-related issues, please call us, and we’ll be happy to discuss your case with you.
